Barrie DOCS: Doctors on Climate Solutions
A group of Barrie physicians are hosting a town hall to discuss the health impacts of the climate crisis on September 18 from 7- 9 PM in the Rotunda of Barrie’s City Hall. There will be a one hour presentation followed by a Q&A session. The general public is invited and admission is free. Our elected representatives from each level of government – municipal, county, provincial and federal – have been invited to attend. The event is called Barrie Doctors On Climate Solutions (Barrie DOCS).
The physicians hope to increase awareness and educate the community about health impacts of the climate crisis. They will provide some of the preventive solutions and mitigation strategies that individuals, communities and levels of government can take. The physicians hope to increase engagement in these solutions. Finally they hope to advocate our elected policy and decision makers to move from planning and discussions to action.
We have delayed too long and the price of waiting too high.
